Developed by the University of Minnesota the SweeTango apple is a patented cross between Honeycrisp and Zestar apples. They ripen early in the fall and have a crisp sweet-tart taste that some have described as a spiced apple cider flavor with hints of brown sugar. Suitable flesh for eating fresh, cooking or preserving the SweeTango is a popular early-season apple.
Description
The SweeTango aka ‘Minneiska’ has a texture similar to ‘Honeycrisp’ with a slightly tart and citric quality. The name “SweeTango” is a portmanteau of the words sweet and tangy.
